Helen E. Evelyn

Helen Evelyn was called to the Jamaican Bar in 1981, became a Partner in 1990 and is a member of the firm’s Conveyancing Department. Helen has considerable experience and expertise in handling real estate/conveyancing transactions and mortgage financing. She handles a large portfolio which also includes the preparation of Wills and the settling of trusts, the probate and administration of estates as well as matters involving estate planning. Helen has acted for several years for a leading Building Society in Jamaica, handling all aspects of mortgage financing, public auction and private treaty sales. Helen is a member of the Jamaican Bar Association and serves on the Bar’s Conveyancing sub-committee. She is also a Trustee of the Bethel Baptist Church Foundation Limited. She provides legal advice and assistance at the Bethel Baptist Legal Aid Clinic and has made presentations and written articles in relation to her areas of practice. Helen is also a trained mediator.
Helen is a graduate of the University of the West Indies and the Norman Manley Law School.
Helen’s primary areas of practice are:
  • probate and administration of estates and trusts;
  • preparing wills;
  • estate planning;
  • mortgage financing, particularly residential mortgage financing through building societies;
  • real estate matters, including large transactions acting for either Vendor(s) or Purchaser(s); and
  • real estate lease transactions.
